harry, my hero.

for any of you missed who missed harry styles on saturday night live last weekend, you probably haven't heard his latest song, ever since new york (which has been stuck in my head for the past 6 days). you should probably listen below, like now.

and if you haven't heard his first solo single, sign of the times, you just need to do better. but let me back up for a sec...

harry styles is currently the only celebrity that i'd legitimately geek out over meeting (yeah, i know... but sadly, it's true). he's just cool. as. f**k. and looking past his effortless style and swagger, i think he's on the cusp of a really standout career. his self-titled debut album drops next month and i'm beyond excited.  i've been into everything he's given us up to this point, so i'm confident i'll be a big fan of the project. once it hits stores, i'll let you guys know my thoughts. -j

#pressplay: banks x trainwreck.

banks just dropped another awesome visual—this time for trainwreck, the latest single from her sophomore project, the altarand, hands down, it's my favorite video from the album so far. as usual, she keeps things a little crazy, a little sexy, and very cool as she brings the story's lyrics to life in a captivatingly dark way. #pressplay to check it out. -j

one thing to note: the fashion element in her videos just keeps on rising to another level. her last few videos all feature some eye-catching ensembles that complement her aesthetic quite perfectly. i won't be surprised if she lands a sweet endorsement deal or two this year.

2016: the soundtrack.

so, if i've talked to you about music, you probably know that i love spotify—the aesthetic, the social aspects, i'm here for all of it. every 12 months, in order to pay tribute to all of the music gems i discovered (new and old) throughout the year, i make a soundtrack playlist of my favorite tracks. fyi: it's that time again.

this collection of 200+ songs features hours of the coolest tracks that i kept on repeat this year, spanning across all genres (r&b, hip-hop, pop, alternative, rock + more). again, these are my favorite songs, but if there's something you think i forgot about, DM me on instagram with your picks so i can update the playlist. hope you guys like it. -j

the 1975 x meadows fest 2016.

last weekend, the first ever meadows fest went down in queens and my buddies over at boohooMAN were kind enough to send over a pass for me to check out all the action.

wearing: boohooMAN ribbed sweater with lace-up front, s.p.c.c. overalls.

the line-up was pretty impressive, to say the least. with kanye headlining and other artists like chance the rapper, twin shadow and bryson tiller on deck, the music was hella strong, but the only act i had my sights set on was the 1975, my favorite band. 🤘

as soon as 7pm came around, i ran over to vip with my hands in the air. 🙌  the guys were amazing from start to finish. they played all of my favorite tracks and kept the crowd singing along throughout the entire set. definitely the best show i've been to in a while. check out the video below to see a bit of the fun and listen to their latest album, i like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it, on spotify, like now.

special shout out to boohooMAN for an amazing experience! ✌️😁

#pressplay: new music to start october. 🎶

as the fall continues getting off to an amazing start, my music library's overflowing with awesome new music. BANKS, one of my favorite artists, finally dropped her sophomore album. The Weeknd chopped his locks and dropped a dope new visual for the title track from his next project. gaga's back and on 100 with an electricifying new video. #pressplay below to check out each, plus three other songs that have my headphones on fire right now. 🔥🎧🔥

banks x gemini feed.

finally, banks's sophomore album dropped, and as always, she delivered from start to finish. her unique vocals + dark visuals work together perfectly every time she drops a piece of work, and she's one of few artists that i can say never disappoint me. gemini feed is one of the leading singles from the project, but check out all 13 tracks from The Altar now on Spotify.

the weeknd x starboy ft. daft punk.

from the second the video starts, the weeknd makes it pretty clear that it's the start of a new era in his career. making quick work of the old abel, wrecking his crib and driving off into the night, he's definitely setting us up for dope new work. my favorite part: that sick neon cross—i want one in my apartment asap. press play.

rae sremmurd x black beatles.

so, i've never been hype on rae sremmurd, but this video definitely helped change that. from the grainy touch-up to the OD styling, and just the concept as a whole, i definitely appreciate it. it's a dope look at today's modern rock stars (yes, rappers count) without employing strippers and renting mansion (as per most hip-hop visuals 😪).

röyksopp x never ever ft. susanne sundfør.

the last time i heard a röyksopp track, it was monuments with sia and both the song and video were amazing. this time around, it's way less solemn, much more fun and totally trippy. check it out (and get ready to dance a little).

metallica x moth into flame.

confession: this was my first real introduction to metallica's music and i thought it was pretty cool. not just the song, but i thought it was a pretty simple yet sick video, too. yeah, there were the moths and a few special effects, but i think the best part is that it's just a band rocking out. 🤘

lady gaga x perfect illusion.

i didn't love this song on my first listen (although it's growing on me), but the video is so good. lady gaga is, hands down, one of my favorite artists and seeing her back in action (and on 100) is refreshing. and, on top of bringing major energy to the screen, she worked with another one of my favorites, Mark Ronson. i'm looking forward to this next album. oh, and those amazing tour jackets they're wearing... i need one like now! 😁
